Sir Roger Moore’s fans have really got behind him this week to support the work he does with UNICEF UK and have ensured this hard work is recognised by nominating him for our coveted Celebrity Charity of the Week Award.

Moore was first introduced to the charity by Audrey Hepburn and not content with just learning the facts and figures, he wanted to have a more hands on role. In 1991, he was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador.

An eloquent public speaker and invaluable fund-raiser, Sir Roger has been instrumental in implementing a number initiatives bringing some much needed attention to child crisis issues and enlisting help and donations to help suffering children all over the world.

Most recently, the James Bond star made a humanitarian plea on behalf of Syrian refugees who had to flee their homes to escape fighting.

The charity won this week’s award with 31% of the vote. Anjelica Huston and her work with PETA came second with 23% and Cristiano Ronaldo’s work with Save the Children came third with 17%. Thank you to all who voted, don’t forget to pop back tomorrow to see who’s nominated for next week’s award.
